Tips and Tricks to get the best savings at our local Publix.
BOGO Items:
You do NOT have to buy both items to get the same price. Publix BOGO in our area are actually half price items. If you buy 1 item it will cost you half the price. If you do buy 2 items, make sure that you use 2 coupons to really rack up the savings!
Double Coupons:
Publix in the Dothan area do NOT double coupons. Our stores are based out of the Jacksonville, FL division and that division does NOT double coupons. :(
Competitor Coupons:
Publix will take a competitor's coupon for any item that they sell in their store. The competitor MUST be within our area. Here is a list of acceptable competitors to consider:
- Target (printable coupons available)
- CVS
- Rite Aid
- Walgreens (has printable online coupons as well)
- Family Dollar
- Dollar General
You can use 1 competitor's coupon and 1 manufacturer's coupon PER item. A competitor's coupon is also considered a "store" coupon. So, if you have a Target coupon and a Publix coupon for an item, you can only use 1 of those coupons.
Example:
You want to purchase a jar of Planter's Nuts. The nuts are on sale BOGO for $2.99. You have in hand a MQ (manufacturer's coupon) for $1.00/2, a Publix coupon for $2.00/2 and a Target coupon for $2.00/2. You can use the MQ for $1.00/1 and EITHER the Publix OR the Target coupon.

You can use an ECB, RR, +Up Reward or a $ off coupon from a competitor, but, you can only use ONE of these type coupons per visit and there is a limit of $5.00.
Make sure to give these type of coupons FIRST especially if they state "$X off of $XX purchase." Otherwise, you may decrease your order so much that they will not be able to take the coupon :( This would happen more often at Winn Dixie than here, simply because WD scans these coupons and they will "beep" if your purchase amount is not correct.
Flyers:
You will often see references to "yellow Advantage Buy flyer" or "green Savings flyer." You can find these flyers on the oscillating stand at the entrance of the store. This is also where you will find the weekly advertisement and other forms for clubs and recipes.
Clubs:
It will definitely benefit you to join the many Publix "clubs." You sign up easily online.
